Spider Blocking the Door

September 12, 2015  •  14 Comments

I opened the front door this morning to let Guildenstern out, and a spider had built her web between the frame and was blocking the door. The minute I saw her there she reminded me of the Far Side comic of the spiders who build a web at the bottom of a slide and one spider is saying to the other "If we pull this off we'll eat like kings!" (http://www.lolroflmao.com/2011/09/07/spider-kings-slide-web-far-side/).

I left her there until we left the house at 5:30 pm, then I took down her web and moved her to another part of the deck, which she wasn't happy about in the least. When we got home at 10:30 pm, she was busy building her web higher in the door, so we could duck under it to go in the house.

Thanks, Janna!
You are much nicer than I am... I've never relocated them :) Nearly every morning when I walk my younger son out to wait for the bus, I walk through a web that goes across the sidewalk path. You'd think I'd learn, but apparently not, haha.

Thanks, Julie!
Aren't they industrious .. And how wonderful that you relocated her .. Even if she came back!

Thanks, Lavinia! The ants have been about the same this year, and the spiders are out. We really have a lot of zipper spiders this year.
