I went out at 6:00 am on 15 February 2015 to get photos of the waning crescent moon. A couple of weeks ago, Lavinia requested I get a photo of the moon in its waning crescent phase. I also went out at 4:30 am on Friday the 13th (last photo), and then at 5:30 am Saturday the 14th (second to the last photo). The sky was perfectly clear on Friday and Saturday mornings, but there was a light cloud cover on Sunday morning, which made it difficult to get a clear shot of the thinner crescent moon. On the other hand, the clouds added a little more interest than a crescent moon suspended in black.
Spunk thought I was really silly to be standing outside in my underwear in the wee hours of the morning with sub-freezing temperatures in the mid 20's. He hung on the wire in the catio and meowed at me the whole time I was photographing the moon. When I started to walk back inside, he flew through the catio's kitty door, and I could hear him losing traction on the parquet floor as he ran around to meet me as I walked back into the sunroom. He rubbed on my legs as I walked to the kitchen counter to put my camera down, and then he made me pick him up and hold him for a few minutes.
